Hello everyone~ This week's featured cosplayer is :iconbusanpanda: from South Korea

What was your first cosplay and why?

Rikku from FFX-10, because it was the easiest costume I could think of with my then-poor sewing skills (I still think my sewing skills are pretty poor though!) I used a lot of hot glue because I had no idea what I was doing, but I realized that it was something that I really enjoyed and now I can't seem to stop.

Which cosplay is your favorite?

Probably Deedlit because I love the style of her character and I've always had a thing for elf characters.

How do you pick the characters you cosplay?

Lately I've been gravitating toward strong looking female characters because I love having a weapon to hold which makes me feel pretty badass. Plus I don't think I can pull off the cutesy face as well as others.

Pick anyone of your costumes and tell us a little bit about how you made it.

My Sakizou costume was fun to make because I got to collaborate with my friend. We made our costumes separately, but picked out the fabric and whatnot together. Usually I try to stay away from satin fabric because of puckering and shininess, but my friend recommended it and it worked at perfectly. We made the corset/waist separate from the underwear and striped top. The legging pattern is actually painted on using gold paint and the small dots are tiny yellow diamonds that I glued on. The base of the hat is Foamex and I sewed the cover to go over it. It took about a week and a half to make.

Any general costume construction advice you would like to share with the group?

Don't give up! Learning something new is always going to be difficult, but over time it starts to get easier and you'll be amazed at the things you can make. Also don't worry too much about correcting all of your mistakes or obsessing over making it perfect. I learned this after moving to Korea that many cosplayers here use safety pins, hot glue, fabric paint, etc way more than I ever would've imagined.

Are you currently working on any other projects?

Yeah two more LoL characters, a Disney villain and Pandora Hearts.

Are you active on any more sites besides DA?
